Joey Diaz
Obituary

Joey Nicholas Diaz In loving memory of Joey Nicholas Diaz, 62, passed away on July 4th 2014. He was born March 25, 1952 in Lafayette, Louisiana to Vivian Broussard and Joe Diaz. Growing up in Lake Charles, LA, Joey attended La Grange High School where he excelled in football as well as baseball. Joey went onto attend McNeese State University where his love for baseball flourished as well as being active in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, pledge class 1970. Joey made sure that everything he did was done to the best of his ability; and lived life to the fullest. After college, Joey moved to Houston, where he met the love of his life Roxanne Chandler. They married on March 3, 1979, having many wonderful years together and welcomed their baby girl Reagan in 1991. His life was full of love and laughter, friends and family; Joey was the type of man that never met a stranger. His larger than life personality made him the success that he was and the great man that so many admired. He is survived by: his loving wife, Roxanne Diaz, his daughter, Reagan Diaz, his mother, Vivian Cichowski, his father, Joe Diaz, his sisters Carmen Diaz, Carolyn Diaz and Elizabeth Brown, as well as many nieces and nephews. He worked for Galperti Inc. for 15 years as VP of Sales and prior to that worked for Coffer Industries for over 20 years. Joey was loved by all and will be missed dearly. A celebration of Joey's life will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Please wear purple and gold to the service, Geaux LSU. The family has requested that donations be made to the Humane Society in memory of Joey Diaz.

With regrets I will be out of town on business today and will not be able to attend Joey's funeral. Joey was truly a child hood friend. We grew up from middle school to highs school playing ball together. We also played golf together. Maybe someday we will all be together in another world playing golf again. Rest in Peace Joey

Elizabeth, Alison, Eric and I were so sorry to get the news. When I think of Joey, I think of his incredible passion for life and exuberant love of his family. Just typing those words brings a smile to my face, and we are praying that God will give you many smiles amidst the tears in the days ahead.

Joey was such a great friend to all of us who had the pleasure to know him - his laughter, sense of humor and loyal friendship touched all of us. I know that Joey and Bill (Toomey) are now together up in Heaven and if there is golf in Heaven - they are enjoying the best golf game of their lives. Joey will be surprised how vastly improved Bill's game is now:) I pray that God gives you peace and comfort, Roxie and Reagan, in your time of grief.

I met Joey in high school over 45 years ago and he has remained since one of those guys you just never forget. While we saw each other only occasionally over the years at reunions and such- every time we met Joey was smiling as I know he is now. Years after high school I worked as a volunteer with his Mom Vivian, Getting to know her told me all I needed to know as to where Joey got his smile and sense of humor. What a great guy and In know his family and friends and all that know him will badly miss him.

Words fail us at this time. Joey was such a great friend to all of us at Sugar Creek; his laugh, good humor and competitive spirit leave a huge hole in our hearts. At least we know he's with Toomey and Jack playing the game he loved. God Bless Roxanne and Reagan in your time of grief.

Joey was one of a kind. I don't know that I'll ever get used to him not being here at work. Loud, sarcastic, funny, a great salesman, but even with all that he was a better friend. R.I.P. Joey, have fun in heaven.

Joey was the best guy to talk with and to play golf with. He was friendly to everyone and was one of the first guys to welcome me to Sugar Creek CC. Joey, As a classmate of 1970 I have to say you will be missed. I had met you at our class reunion and very much enjoyed the meeting. I hope you have found a better place even though you have left family and friends as a legacy of your kind actions to others. My condolences to those family and friends as we should remember his smile and kind manners. That is how I will remember this gator.

Although Joey and I only know each other from a work basis, I considered him among my good friends. Joey's never ending good humor was so contagious the he lifted my spirits just with his laugh. During our many talks we determined that we had many things in commend. The least of which was our attachment to Louisiana and the discussion of possible commend relatives.
I will miss seeing his smiling face.
May God keep him in his hand and give him all the gifts of heaven.
